Where We Work

Regions

There are an estimated 2.5 million orphans in Kenya with almost half of them being orphaned due to AIDS.  As the AIDS epidemic progresses, the number of deaths of parents increases and conversely, the number of orphans climbs higher. Unfortunately, many of these orphans have the virus.

YLO’s vision is to demonstrate to the world that there is a personal Jesus who answers prayer by rescuing abandoned children across the African continent. We partner with African orphanages and organizations to accomplish this goal.

Thailand has become a popular destination for traffickers. Extreme poverty, particularly in rural areas makes children vulnerable. Research estimates that around  60,000 children are trapped in the sex trade in Thailand.   Poverty and hunger can cause parents to sell their children into slavery with the hope that they will find a better life. In addition, traffickers target homeless and isolated children, hoping to lure them with false promises.

YLO’s mission is to partner with organizations to meet the needs of the children. A safe place to live, nutritious meals, clothing, on-site medical/dental clinic, instruction in good personal hygiene, and opportunities to play and exercise. Christian schooling and counseling services.

Ukraine is a beautiful country that has recently become war-torn in the Eastern regions, leaving even more children vulnerable to being orphaned and abandoned. Children across the country face neglect, abuse, and abandonment due to their parents’ alcoholism, a common cultural problem that still plagues much of Eastern Europe’s population.

YLO’s primary purpose is to support and uplift orphans and vulnerable children in Europe. We strive to reach this goal by providing funds for food, medical care, personal hygiene, education, counseling, clothing, and other basic needs necessary for the children’s growth and development.

Many children are abandoned in Mexico because of poverty and domestic violence or because their families have fled to the United States. Abandoned children wander the streets, where they work, and are more prone to suffer from exploitation.

YLO partners with organizations that rescue underprivileged children from the streets and provides them the opportunity to experience secure living conditions, nurtured upbringing, schooling, and a pleasant family life.

Brazil is among the countries worst affected by the COVID pandemic across the globe — second only to the USA. With the first case identified in late February, the country now faces alarming rates of infections and deaths, while the government has yet to declare an emergency and impose social distancing measures.

As the crisis grows, our concerns are on rising unemployment and the immediate consequences on families to cover children’s basic needs, plus the delay in children’s education because of the lack of access and appropriate tools.

YLO’s mission is to partner with agencies that offer emotional support and assistance with the immediate needs of children.
